Travel The World

When I was in the army, I couldn't even travel to Czechoslovakia.  In '06, I was able to enter a Slovak AFB and take pictures with the permission of a public affairs officer.  How times have changed.

On the way to the hangar, I managed to catch this chopper in flight. Inside the cockpit! One last picture with friends before departing. These pictures were taken during a visit to a Slovak AFB in Fall '06.  The main thing I remember about that day was how terribly cold it was!

Wow!  I was digging through my files the other day and found this picture from 1984.  I was in the US Army at the time serving in Augsburg, Germany (back when there were two Germanys).  This was a picture of the 1984 Nijmegen team that went to the Netherlands to compete in the annual, four-day Nijmegen march.  I believe this picture was taken about a month before we left and right after a training session.  Anyway, can anyone pick me out?  If you can, please compare this picture to the pictures in the slideshow to the left that were taken almost 25 years later in Afghanistan.  I haven't changed a bit, have I?

This reminds me so much of my childhood home:)

Perhaps, I will have some information about my next travel destination in a few weeks.  I wonder where it will be?  Patrick, are you still in Djibouti?

My mother's cat loves to travel but expends far less energy in doing so than I do.

It would have been amazing to relax in such surroundings . . .
