Georgia on my mind . . .

I've finally started getting over the jetlag but I'm still missing Georgia terribly. Fortunately, I'm in touch with friends over there so this makes it a little easier to cope. Here is a view of T'bilisi that I'm posting just to remind myself of how beautiful it is/was.

  1. Hi, Russ,

It's nice to see all the interesting stuff you've posted on your blog regarding your experience as a trainer with the DoD. Anyhow, sorry you had to leave Georgia, but welcome back to the USA.

Good news on my end-I've just been referred for possible employment (potential start date next Feb if hired). Not sure what the next step in the process is going to be, but I do know it's a gig that involves a stint at Lackland followed hard upon by a TDY to Afghanistan and/or Iraq. I guess that means it won't be a walk in the park, but hey everybody's got to pay their dues, right?

By the way, I checked out your Afghanistan blog, so I've got the picture on that one - thanks for all that.

Well, I'm gonna be talking to someone at Lackland pretty soon - just waiting for them to give me a call. I'm doing fine in my current job, actually, but I think this one is a bit more up my alley (I did a 4-year hitch with the USMC many moons ago). However it turns out, I'm glad to be considered in any event.

Given my situation, any insights you might be willing to offer on where the process goes from this point would be greatly appreciated, man. Just want to get all my ducks in a row, if you know what I mean.

  3. Why not plan a trip back to Georgia when you have some time off of work?

  4. I know but it was so painful to leave the first time that I don't know if I could do that again especially after a short time. Hopefully, I can get another assignment there for next year. When are you going??

  5. Well, I don't know...I've had a busy year at work, but a lot of things are coming together so maybe I'll be able to make a trip in 2010...
